How Should a Driver’s License Photo Be?

Following the reclassification of driver’s license classes according to the European Union criteria, our driver’s licenses will be renewed as in the photo. As of 01/01/2016, new criteria have been introduced for driver’s license photos to be used in new types of driver’s licenses. The answer to the question of how a driver’s license photo should be is below.

How Should a Driver’s License Picture Be? – Driver’s License Picture Features:

  • It will be a biometric passport photo with a resolution of 400 DPI, a white background and no pattern, in accordance with ICAO standards, within the last six months.
  • The face is centered on the photo, and the right and left facial features will be completely visible from the tip of the chin to the area where the hair begins.
  • In order for the photo to be scanned, the full size of the photos printed on photo paper will be 50*60 mm.
  • The head will not be tilted forward or turned to any side, but will be taken with a neutral facial expression and the mouth closed.
  • The person’s face will be completely visible along with the hairstyle.
  • There will be no stains or bends in the photo.
  • The colors in the photo will be neutral and reflect the natural colors of the face, the photo will be taken while looking directly at the camera.
  • Eyes should be open and clearly visible (no red eyes), not obstructed by hair or eyeglass frames, and there should be no reflections on sunglasses or spectacle lenses.
  • Light will be reflected evenly on the face, with no reflections or shadows.
  • There will be no objects such as hats, pipes, etc. when taking photos.
  • In passport photos with a headscarf, the face will be visible from the tip of the chin to the forehead.
  • Additionally, during registration, your photo will be taken with a webcam in our institution and uploaded to the system.
